Boiled condensed milk DULCE DE LECHE

This boiled condensed milk is filling for the famous alfajores cookies, which is a favorite sweet in Peru, Spain and Argentina. Also, they can complement any cocktails, ice cream, cupcakes, cream cakes, etc.

Cooking time: 120 minutes
Servings: this number is approximately 420 g condensed milk

You will need:

1 liter of milk
255 g of sugar
1 teaspoon soda
1 pinch of cinnamon or vanilla

How to prepare:

1. Mix in a heavy-based saucepan the milk, sugar, baking soda and vanilla. Over medium heat bring the milk to boil (careful not escaped).

2. When the milk get cream color (about 20 minutes), lower the heat.

3. At a gentle simmer and constant stirring cook the milk for about 1 hour.

4. If condensed milk remove from heat for 5 – 10 minutes earlier, then the product will be more liquid and is perfect as a caramel sauce that you can add to smoothies, coffee, desserts, and pour them pancakes. After about 1 hour 5 minutes, the mixture will slightly thicken and turn a dark caramel color.

5. Even if the mixture has thickened after 1 hour and 10 minutes, it will thicken on cooling and after cooling in the refrigerator. Turn off the heat and within 5 minutes, stir the condensed milk. Cooled to room temperature, then put into the fridge for 1 hour.

Ready milk can be stored in the refrigerator in a closed jar.
